....parks, cinema, city, etc..

congratulations on winning the art award again! :iconiloveitplz: that was really awesome :) well it turns out that mr hall edited and sent our work to the publisher a few weeks ago :D how could he lol :XD: but now we don't have to worry about the cover anymore - my plan of getting everyone to help didn't work, and how much mr hall messed up will be under by our names on teh cover =P but it still feels great to be rid of this GREAT burden.

...we still have a year 12 prep program in two weeks don't we? wonder what we'll do for vis com O____O
:iconlyndon1992:
lol.. did you see me dropping the gift voucher... :(
yes how could mr hall edit it, he didnt even know how to use photoshop during class! well we will just have to wait and see what the cover looks like... but yeah at least we dont have to do it.

cant wait til we get the exam results... least we dont have to do exams in this weather.
:iconoliverma:
oh noooo!!!! you lost your gift voucher? what happened?! sorry i didn't see it on the way, other wise i would've given it back to you straight away :( hopefully someone will pick it up and hand it back to a teacher or something >_< i feel for you man~ i lost my gift voucher back in year 8 as well! (in Ashwood College. For Information Technology lol!) hopefully it wasn't a lot of money...

hmm... mr hall did seem really dodgy, he was avoiding the conversation for the entire time i was talking to him :( we would all feel really humiliated if it does turn out to be bad, the WHOLE SCHOOL will see it!!! O_______O oh god i don't wanna think about it! :crying:
:iconlyndon1992:
lol.... i didnt lose it, but when mr hall was giving it to me i fell...
:iconoliverma:
Lolololololl!!! NOW I remember, you did kinda fall while u were receiving the award... But don't worry it wasn't that obvious :) lol now I just told u how careless I was in year 8 for nothing!!! :D
:iconoliverma:
whoops, i forgot to mention something VERY IMPORTANT!!!

:bulletred:When you start a new document, make sure you set the Resolution to at least 240, and if possible 300 this will make the file size larger than usual, but will pack more information which is REQUIRED by the printing press. If you start on something low like 72 (which is for web), then it's all over - start again in the correct resolution!!! You CAN NOT change resolution after you started or else your picture will LOSE details!
:bulletred::bulletred:When you start a new document, you should also make sure you set the color mode to CMYK 8bit this will make sure that you're preparing an image that will look correct when printed. You can change color modes later on.
:iconlyndon1992:
oh okay, i havnt started anything yet, but hopefully i can do something soon.
is it true that CMYK blends colour better? cos that what i heard from someone, anyway when does the cover have to be ready?
:iconoliverma:
Yes, CMYK blends better - when printed on paper. The reason is that in the normal mode (which is RGB), the computer blends the colors on screen using the 3 primary lights: Red, Green and Blue. The same method will not work on paper obviously, because ink acts differently from light. Which is why you should always use CMYK when preparing an image for print (the 4 inks - Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and "Key" which means Black.)
---
also, remember that when printing ALWAYS set the resolution to at least 240, and when possible 300 (this will make working on the image slower and file size larger, but is necessary for print). Write this down somewhere so you don't forget, because there's no other way to upscale your image once you set the resolution too low - it will destroy the quality and then the printing press won't accept it :(
---
i'm not sure what the deadline is for the cover, but i would say in two weeks time - we should ask mr hall later on, see you tonight :)
:iconoliverma:
hey lyndon! :) aahhhhh.... soo..... did you.... work on the cover design? :D
:iconlyndon1992:
nah i havnt been able to... i've been relaxing from exams, still have one today, and im not really ready, but at least we get to take our text books in for this one :)
:iconoliverma:
true, we're all tired out after the exams so i've been doin some relaxing as well~ :iconiloveitplz: we still have two weeks till the year 12 prep program so meanwhile theres plenty of timez for us to finish the cover - look, i'm a bit desperate now, get EVERYONE around u to help! (i've asked aileen too) get ur bros too if possible :3 the book is for the whole school after all, and i'll probly think abt taking our names off the back and doing a list inside the back cover for all the people who helped us ^_^

btw, did u get an invite for the arts awards evening? i will totally cry if u didn't. ur works are so much better than mine - in fact i dont even know which one of my works are selected because they're all so bad (and late) :XD: =P =P
:iconlyndon1992:
wont it be a bit confusing... cos then everyone will be working on the covers at the same time....
:iconoliverma:
lol OF COURSE not that way :D i'm suggesting that you work with ur friends on it together ie you work on the cover, and you can show them to ur friends and they will talk about what they think will work, and you make them work... u get the idea =P
